Hi Alex, my name is Seth. I was searching the web for Super 8 stuff, and came across your 9 Basic Rules for Making a Super 8 Feature Film. I've had 3 Super8 cameras for a while, but have only tinkered with running some film through them. I do video production for a living as well, been doing it for the last 7 years. One of my best friends is taking a film course while he shoots MiniDV with his Canon XL1 and he keeps talking about being a filmmaker.
Well, here's the kicker...he's never TOUCHED film, not even Super8. So, I started doing some more test shooting between the Super8 and my DV stuff, since everybody these days is into the "film-look". The film footage has such a unique look that cannot be faked no
matter how many effects you put on your DV footage. So I call my friend over to check out my cameras, the footage, and geek around, and now all he wants to do is shoot on film, as do I.
Not that any of this is all that interesting, but I wanted to share my experience with somebody else who appreciates Super8, and to compliment and thank you for the info you have on your website. Very interesting and informative. Thanks again, viva
super8!

Hey Seth, great email! Thank you. (I'd put another exclamation point but two in a row is considered weird).
In the near future the remaining filmmakers in the world will have to hold secret meetings in private or be outed as heretics!
By the way, I edit video for a living (and do some video cinematography as well).
Have you checked out Super-8mm.net?
